Temporary vs Permenant

Most of you know by now that Cracker Barrel ended it's work relationship with my dear husband back in May. Fortunately, he was allowed to take his scheduled vacation and work out his final two weeks. Friday before Memorial Weekend was his first official day of unemployment. This news was not really a shock to us as we have watched this happen to other seasoned employees at Cracker Barrel over the past few years. But this is what we've learned on this journey so far:

• There's really no such thing as job security
• No matter how hard we tried, we were not financially prepared for job loss
• The worst that could happen to us is that we could lose everything
• But everything wasn't ours to begin with
• I can save a lot on groceries and household items by watching sales and clipping coupons

• Most life situations are temporary not permenant wheather they are good or bad

God has been gracious and sent Richard a "temporary" job. Richard is doing some contract work for Lipscomb University for the next 90 days. Richard is enjoying his new duties and has adjusted to the near hour drive each way.

In our life group last night, one of the Dads reminded us all that everything we do in our lives either has a temporary or eternal purpose. Much of the temporary is necessary here in this life, but it's the permenant or eternal things we do which matter most. I know my perspective would often be different if I could remember this vast difference.

So for now we will be thankful and content with "temporary" employment..... But a "permenant" job sure would be nice too!
